Directly Shippable Products and Auto-Generated Consignment Item Improvements
We're excited to announce several major WMS features that make packing faster, more accurate, and—when you need it—fully automated.
Directly Shippable Products
You can now mark a product's Unit of Measure as "directly shippable." When scanned in the Pack Screen, these items automatically create their own consignment item with dimensions and weights pulled directly from the product record.
This is ideal for items that ship in their original packaging, such as TVs, boxed appliances, or palletised goods as it eliminates the need to manually re-enter dimensions and weight data. When working with auto-generated consignment items, directly shippable products will generate their own individual consignment items in the same way.
Supporting Enhancements
To support these major features, we've made several additional improvements:
Gross weight is now used: When available, Product UOM Gross Weight is now used in Consignment Item Weight calculations. (Note: Directly Shippable Products always use Gross Weight and will not fall back to using Product Weight)
Transport Product weight toggle: The Pack Screen includes a new toggle to exclude Transport Product Weight from automatic item weight calculations. This toggle is enabled by default for directly shippable products
Product UOM weight visibility: The Pack Screen now displays the weight of the UOM being packed, making it easier to identify missing or incorrect product master data
Weight calculation visibility: A new help popup explains how weights were automatically calculated
Workflow controls: New Pin/Lock/Unlock buttons let you adjust Pack Screen behaviour to suit various workflows and prevent accidentally packing additional items into directly shippable consignment items
Auto-generated item visibility: Toggle the visibility of auto-generated consignment items directly within the Pack Screen (in addition to existing organisation and customer-level settings)
Coming Soon - Auto Pack
In January we will be releasing a new Auto Pack feature which further streamlines how auto-generated consignment items are handled. With Auto Pack enabled, sale order products will appear as already packed into their auto-generated consignment items, eliminating the need to manually re-pack them on the Pack Screen.
Auto Pack will be able to be enabled or disabled at organisation and customer levels, giving you complete control over your packing workflows.
Note: Auto Pack will be enabled by default upon release.
