Release Log
The latest version of the CartonCloud mobile application:
Following successful beta testing, Pick to Tote is now generally available to all CartonCloud WMS users.
Pick to Tote optimises e-commerce fulfillment by enabling warehouse staff to simultaneously pick multiple small orders using a tote-based system. Each tote on the picking trolley corresponds to a specific order, allowing pickers to efficiently collect items for 10-30 orders in a single trip.
The system is specifically designed for high volume ecommerce orders, and includes:
Simultaneous multi-order picking with designated totes, minimising travel time across the warehouse
Real-time sorting guidance ensures accurate order allocation while maintaining high-speed picking
Streamlined handling of large order volumes with improved resource efficiency
Pick to Tote is now automatically available in your CartonCloud system and no longer requires beta access or manual enablement by our team.
For more information on how to use this feature, visit our Knowledge Base.
CartonCloud has now introduced Warehouse Zones to Warehouse Locations. You are now able to group certain locations together as zones, and more efficiently plan warehouse operations, based off of these Zones.
Key functionality:
Logical grouping of storage locations into defined zones, eg: Pick Faces
Zone-based wave picking for optimised pick routes
Zone-specific management for specialised storage requirements (cold storage, bulk areas, dangerous goods sections)
Picker workload distribution based on zonal assignments
This feature establishes the foundation for upcoming Directed Putaway functionality (planned for Q2 2025), which will incorporate zone-based logic for product placement.
Note: The wave picking feature now includes zone-based filtering capabilities.
We’ve renamed the Warehouse Location “Group” field to “Charge Group”.
This change has been made to more accurately convey the purpose of this field, which is to treat all locations with the same “Charge Group” as a single warehouse location for the purposes of storage charging.
Additionally, we’ll soon be releasing a new Warehouse Location field called “Zone”, and we wanted to ensure this was not confused with the “Group” field.
For more information on Warehouse Location Charge Groups, refer to our Knowledge Base Article
We’ve added support for HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) files within Documents and Photos on inbound when uploading via the web application.
HEIC is the default image file format used on Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac), however it has limited support outside the Apple ecosystem.
Previously, if users tried to upload an HEIC file it would be rejected as an unsupported filetype, requiring conversion to a supported filetype (ie: JPG) prior to upload. To make it easier, we’ve added an in-browser file converter which converts the HEIC file to JPG automatically. This maximises the image compatibility with other (non-Apple) devices and other applications.
Note: The CartonCloud mobile app would already convert HEIC files to JPG prior to upload.
We’re excited to announce an enhancement to the Wave Pick Filters, designed to give you even more control and flexibility when creating waves.

Mobile Apps 6.9.0 introduce Pack by SKU, an enhancement designed to significantly improve efficiency when processing single-item orders*.
Within the Packing Mode of Split Pick and Pack Waves, you can now scan product barcodes directly from the orders list which then jumps you straight to the first unpacked order requiring that particular item.
This workflow significantly increases throughput when handling large quantities of single-item orders as you no longer need to spend time looking for items when packing, you can simply grab any item that was picked, scan it, and pack out the order which is shown on-screen.
How to use Pack by SKU:
Create a Split Pick and Pack Wave Pick containing single-item orders.
Pick all of the orders onto a single trolley / tote & then bring everything back to the packing station.
– Here is where the magic happens! --
Rather than work through the packing process order-by-order, instead, pickup any item from the trolley/tote and scan it.
As each item is scanned, this automatically selects an unpacked order from the wave that needs that item.
The packer can then pack and print the shipping label and dispatch the order.
To streamline operations even further, combine Pack by SKU with Wave Pick Auto-Generation and CartonCloud can automatically create Single-Item Orders Wave Picks in the background.
For additional information visit our knowledge base article here.
* Note: Pack by SKU is not limited to Single-Item Orders, however it is best suited to this scenario as packers do not need to search for any other items to be packed in the order.

We’ve made enhancements to the Create Wave Pick screen to help you quickly access and view/manage the products within your Sale Orders.
What’s New?
Clickable Sale Orders: You can now click on a Sale Order row in the Create Wave Pick screen to open it in a new browser tab. This takes you directly to the "Products" tab, saving time and reducing the need for manual navigation.
Checkbox Control: The area around the select checkbox is dedicated solely to selection. Clicking near the checkbox will not accidentally open a new tab. Instead, it will correctly add or remove the checkmark.
These improvements streamline your workflow, making it faster and easier to review order details while minimizing navigation errors.
If you have any questions or feedback, we’d love to hear from you!
We’re excited to introduce a new functionality that allows you to set a default visibility level for Purchase Order Documents at the Organisation level! This streamlined setting ensures consistent visibility preferences across all Purchase Order documents, eliminating the need for additional clicks when a different default is the preferred!
How It Works:
You can now configure the default visibility setting for documents under a new tab:
Edit Organisation Settings → Warehouse → Order Documents
Here are the available visibility options:
Internal Only: No customer access. Admins and packers can edit.
Shared with Customer: Customers can view, while Admins and packers can edit.
Key Details:
The current default is set to Internal Only.
When you select a default visibility level, it will automatically apply to all newly created documents.
Mobile App Syncing: Updates to the visibility setting won’t automatically sync with the mobile app. To ensure changes are reflected, simply refresh the Picking screen by pulling down, or log out and back in.
This update gives you greater control over document creation, and efficiency when incorporating this as part of your everyday workflow.
For more details or assistance, check out our Knowledge Base or reach out to our Support team!
We have just released some additional improvements to our Photos and Documents on Purchase order feature!
Here’s what’s new:
Real-time Upload Progress Indicators: You can now monitor the progress of each file as it uploads, with individual indicators for each attachment and an overarching progress bar for the entire document progress.
Metadata Display in Lightbox View: Metadata is now available for viewing directly in the lightbox view of attachments. If a location is available in the metadata, a map will be shown pinpointing the coordinates, and, when clicked will open expanded in a new tab. For files without metadata, the toggle to “Show Metadata” will appear inactive.
Customizable Metadata Visibility: By default, metadata is displayed to users. However, you can choose to hide or show it based on your preference using the “Show/Hide Metadata” toggle. The system will remember your settings when you are viewing other attachments.
Webapp Metadata Capture: Currently, metadata is being captured during document creation on the webapp, with mobile support coming soon!
For more information on how to view metadata, visit the Photos and Documents on Purchase Orders page in our Knowledge Base.
These updates bring improved visibility and control over document uploads and metadata handling, making it easier to manage and access important file details during your process. Enjoy exploring the new features!
We have now ended support for all mobile apps lower than version 6.0.0.
Users on older mobile app versions will experience issues such as error screens and/or an inability to login. The latest mobile apps can be downloaded directly from Google Play (Android) and App Store (iOS).
We are very excited to announce the Beta release of Pick to Tote!
A key component of e-commerce fulfilment is the ability to pick large numbers of small orders quickly and efficiently. Pick to Tote is designed to do just that, streamlining the picking process for warehouses handling multiple small orders at once.
Pick to Tote is a workflow in which warehouse pickers push trolleys fitted with multiple totes (buckets) through the warehouse. Each tote corresponds to an individual order, allowing workers to pick items for several orders simultaneously. This method is ideal for small orders (typically fewer than 5 items), enabling the picking of 10 to 30 orders in one trip, dramatically saving on walking distance and time.
Here’s why Pick to Tote is a game changer:
Accuracy: By assigning items directly to their respective totes as soon as they are picked, Pick to Tote reduces the risk of mixing products between orders. This ensures that each tote contains only the items for its designated order, improving overall pick accuracy.
Speed: The ability to pick multiple orders in one trip significantly reduces walking time through the warehouse, eliminating the need for retracing steps or making multiple trips. This streamlined process increases the speed of order fulfilment and optimises warehouse operations.
Once picking is complete, the trolley is wheeled to the packing station, where the Pack Screen is used to finalise and pack each order into its respective shipper. This combination of Pick to Tote and our new Pack Screen [coming soon] offers an efficient, end-to-end solution for e-commerce fulfilment, allowing warehouses to handle high order volumes with greater speed and accuracy.
Note: Pick to Tote is currently in Beta and needs to be enabled within your CartonCloud account by one of our team. If you would like to begin using Pick to Tote in Beta, you can request access here.
We’ve put together a (rough) video showing how to use Pick to Tote for Picking. And we’ve also put together a Beta User Guide detailing how to setup and configure pick to tote, and the known limitations of the Beta release.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cadbU-uQFJmB4S2IU6BBoELAliEXPdeW/viewWe’re thrilled to announce that Wave Pick Auto Generation is now available in Beta, just in time for the busiest period of the year!
Two weeks ago we released Wave Pick Templates, which allow you to create and reuse templates for your wave picks. With Auto Generation, the templating functionality has been taken to another level as schedules can be setup to create wave picks in the background, automatically!
Currently, Auto Generation must be setup by one of our team (we’re hoping to have the User Interface released within the next couple of weeks so you can DIY) - so, if you would like Auto Generation configured, simply send an email to: support@cartoncloud.com and we’ll be happy to help get you setup and going.
Please note: Wave Pick Auto Generation (and soon, Replenishment Auto Generation) are features within our Advanced Automation add-on within Warehouse Premium.
